So
many people want your loan business... how do you choose?
Here are a few "do's and don'ts" to keep in mind.

Explosions and reverb. Maybe
this is just a gut instinct, but radio ads with urgent pleadings,
explosions, and "hurry, this offer won't last"
in them scare me. These lenders are trying to get you excited
and induce some fear that you are missing out on THE BEST
DEAL EVER! You're probably not.

pushy, pushy. If
a loan officer gets pushy with you, that's a bad sign. Walk
away, hang up the phone, or look elsewhere. Yes, you should
be willing to sign a "Good Faith Estimate" form
(you are not signing for a loan, just a disclosure). You
should never feel like you are getting pmehed into anything
before you are ready. A good loan officer will sit down
with you, ask you lots of questions, and help you assess
your long and short term goals to figure out which loan
will serve you best.

Asking questions. A
good loan officer should know a little about your situation,
your plans, and your future. There are sometimes subtle
and, often times, extreme differences in loan products.
Knowing a little bit about your plans, your dreams, or even
your uncertainties can help your loan officer make some
smart decisions. Choose the wrong loan, and it could cost
you thousands and thousands of dollars more than you had
planned.
